Royal Wedding Invitations

With less than 24 hrs to go to the Royal Wedding, the press is still full of stories about who has and who hasn't received one of those precious royal wedding invitations. Although the talk might dissipate slightly tomorrow when the focus will undoubtedly be on Kate Middleton's dress and the 'balcony kiss', I'm sure it's not the last we've heard about it.
Royal Wedding Invitations
Poor William and Kate, they have so much to contend with. They have the world's press watching their every move and every arrangement of their wedding being picked over. Whenever some issue is raised some spokesman is wheeled out to give a response. I'm sorry some of these spokesman really don't seem to know how ridiculous they appear.
Royal Wedding Invitations
No one can really understand why no royal wedding invitations were issue to the two most recent Prime Ministers. So first off we have a spokesman saying "It's not a state occasion". Yes we know that, but stop trying to pretend that it's a normal family wedding - it isn't. A different spokesman explained that the former PMs weren't invited because "they are not Knights of the Garter." That doesn't really explain why you wouldn't invite them and at previous royal weddings they have been invited regardless. But then this evening another spokesman was wheeled out to give the most ridiculous statement yet. "William and Catherine don't know Tony Blair or Gordon Brown" the woman intoned.
Royal Wedding Invitations
Perhaps Wills and Kate don't know either Tony Blair or Gordon Brown, but don't tell me they are intimate with the ambassadors of Zimbabwe or Syria, so why would they take precedence over former Prime Ministers. Really whoever is pulling the royal or political strings have got themselves in a real and unnecessary muddle. I have no idea whether it was a deliberate snub or an accidental one, but it certainly appears to be a snub. A bit of me wickedly thinks that the Blairs weren't sent one of the sought after royal wedding invitations because of Cherie's refusal to curtsey to the Queen.

How To Do Homemade Wedding Invitations

Planning a wedding is a busy time. The list of things to do and remember is endless. From organising wedding attire, flowers, transportation, booking the church and venue, as well as booking a photographer and videographer, I could go on. The cost of your special day can easily soar beyond your budget so it is a good idea to try and cut costs where you can without compromising your big day. One of the key places to save money is in the production of wedding invitations. Nowadays many couples opt to create their own wedding invitations. We have put together a list of some useful tips to help you make your own wedding invitations that will stand out from the crowd.

• If you want to create a truly special wedding invitation we recommend you use handmade paper. Handmade paper adds that extra something to any piece and will look truly special. To make the invite, use custom card in a colour that suits the theme of your wedding, cut the handmade paper into a size just smaller than this, perhaps a 2- 3 cm border and stick it on top. To complete add a text layer that you can print off at home and chose your favorite font and text.
• Why not use simple stamps to easily add a bit of life and a lot of personality to your website? Find a stamp that portrays your personality or is relevant to the theme of the wedding and stamp away. When the ink is dry it is a good idea to add some colour to your stamps with the use of coloured pencils. Chose an ink colour for your stamp that is similar if not the same as your font for consistency.
• A great way to produce a simply elegant invitation is with the use of lace. Cut lace slightly larger than your card stock. Spray it with adhesive glue and stick to the card. Trim the edges to ensure it is nice and neat. This is the perfect way to create a classy invitation. For the most classic look, chose monochrome colours, keep it classy.
• If you care to add some colour to your invitation take a trip to your local arts and craft shop to see what scrapbook patterns and designs are up on offer. Using a die- cut is a great way to add colour to a card. To make an invitation print off your text later and back it with coloured card, you can glue your die- cut invitation for a fun and energetic look.
• For a simple way to add style to your invitation add ribbon that matches your colour scheme. Hot glue the ribbon to the card stock and wrap it around to create a clean line, attach a backing layer to ensure that the wrapped ribbon is not visible.
Getting creative with your invitations can be fun. Coming up with your own designs and seeing them come to life with your own hard work can be very rewarding. Not only that, it can save money too. There is so much to think of on the run up to your big day and wedding cover is a must to ensure the security of all your hard work and happiness. Follow these tips; let your creative mind flow and best of luck with all of the preparations!

Neutral Wedding Decor

The décor that you choose for your wedding will help to set the tone and create a mood. When you are looking to design an atmosphere that is sophisticated and modern, a neutral palette is ideal. A restrained mixture of neutral tones will help to create an environment that is utterly chic and elegant.
There are a variety of neutral shades that you can use in your wedding design. There are warmer tones, such as beige, café au lait, and sand, as well as cooler shades like gray, pewter, and smoke. The warmer neutrals tend to be more versatile as well as more inviting, but the cooler tones can be perfect for a modern, minimalist wedding. Colors like gray are also great when used in combination with pops of bold bright colors like canary yellow or scarlet.
Neutral Wedding Decor

When you hear "neutral", your first reaction might be "boring", and it is true that neutral shade need to be used deliberately to create the right effect. In other words, if you are using the standard issue white tablecloths provided by the caterer and adding in a beige napkin as your accent, yes, you will run the risk of décor that is bland or boring. However, if you select a custom sand linen tablecloth with a wide mocha band at the edge and layer in a patterned napkin combining the two colors, you will have a look that is sophisticated and elegant. The difference is in the addition of layering textures, tones, and patterns to create an inviting space for your reception.
With a neutral tablescape, look for flowers that will complement, rather than contrast with, the linens. Vases overflowing with hydrangea, roses, and other ivory flowers will create a lush and rich look. For a more streamlined, modern wedding, try using a single type of flower, such as white tulips or orchids. Arrange the blooms artfully in a tall square glass vase for centerpieces that are the ultimate in modern chic.
